When we complain about our children throwing tantrums
We forget that they are blessings some desperately want
When we complain about eating a meal all the time
We forget that some have very little or none
When we complain about having nothing to wear with a closet full of clothes
We forget that very few have those
When we complain about friends badgering us
We forget that friends that care are rare
When we complain about our job
We forget that we are not idle and despair
We forget all the things we should be thankful for
We are so focused on all that didn’t work
That we can’t see all that worked
Most of the time what turned out well outnumbers what didn’t
But we forget and don’t see it
Forgive us Abba, for we forget.
